This client needed help constructing a French drain/ag drain to drain a soggy field on their beautiful property in the Southern Highlands.
We cut a long trench through the effected area with a “herring bone” at the top to catch the sub-surface water and deliver it to the dam below. The laser level ensured adequate fall in the trench to allow the water to flow freely.
After the perforated pipe was laid we topped it with 20mm crushed rock and a layer of geotextile to keep the soil out of the rock.
Finally the trench was refilled with the overburden from the excavation to complete the job.
The owner flew his drone while I was working and was kind enough to send me a short video of me at work.
And here’s the finished result, neat and tidy, ready for the grass to grow through when spring arrives!
